John J. Kalamarides, M.D., age 92, died January 10 in Wilton, CT from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. An orthopedic surgeon and resident of the City until 1998, he practiced in Syracuse from 1950 through 1979. He received his A.B. from Columbia in 1935 and his M.D. from Hahnemann Medical College in 1939.

He was a Life Fellow, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, A Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and a Life Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Member Onondaga County Medical Society, and Clinical Associate Professor at Upstate Medical Center, 50 Year Member of the United States Power Squadron, a 32nd Degree Mason, an avid fisherman, duck hunter, and photographer.

Jennie, his wife of 57 years died in 1997. He is survived by a sister, Christine Choban of Wallingford, CT; a daughter, Ruth I. Kalamarides, PhD of Gladstone, NJ; a son, Peter J. Kalamarides of Wallingford, CT; a son, John J. Kalamarides, Jr. of Wilton, CT; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
