Community Programs
The Masonic Fraternity is active in community service. We organize blood drives, volunteer at local schools, and run a Child ID program that reaches 15,000 children statewide each year. We operate the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory in Utica and New York State Masons also sponsor training sessions for school districts to help them identify children at risk for substance abuse. The Masonic home, located in the Utica area, is a state of the art community for the elderly and those with special needs. We also operate “Camp Turk” in the Adirondack Mountains where hundreds of youths get the chance to experience the real outdoors every year. Liverpool Syracuse Lodge 501 F&AM sponsors numerous annual events such as:
- Breakfast with Santa in December.
- Annual Village of Liverpool Tree Lighting – The Lodge opens its doors for cookies and refreshment after the Village Tree Lighting in Johnson Park.
- Annual Kids Day Easter Egg Hunt – the Saturday before Easter. This is an event that brings nearly 250 children out for the area’s largest Easter Egg Hunt. Liverpool has been sponsoring this event for over 20 years.
- Child ID Program at the New York State Fair. This program provides for the videotaping of children and making a photo ID. This program runs the entire period of the Fair and Liverpool is one of many Lodges assisting in the program.
In addition, Liverpool Syracuse Lodge has presented the DeWitt Clinton Award over the years to various citizens and community organizations for distinguished service; supported public libraries in Liverpool and in the City of Syracuse; and contributed time and talent to many youth organizations.
