Francis “Bud” Dell

Date of Passing: Monday, December 25, 2006

Francis “Bud” Dell, age 93, of Manlius, passed away at home Monday. Born in Newton, MA, he resided in the Syracuse area since the age of 10. He was a Cadet in the Manlius Military Academy for two years, a graduate of Nottingham High School and attended Syracuse University.

He was raised in the William F. Farmer Masonic Lodge No. 1109 in 1948, becoming a 32nd degree Mason and receiving his 55-year pin and award. He affiliated with Liverpool Lodge No. 525 in 1976, was a Shriner and a member of the Shriners Oriental Band. He retired in 1980 from government service.

He was predeceased by a brother, Herbert; a sister, Mabel; and his first wife, Jane. Surviving are his wife, the former Janice Horton; two sons, Anthony M.(Tina) Dell and John G. Dell; a daughter, Cherolyn (Warren) Ottey of Manlius; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Frederick R. Shute

Date of Passing: Saturday, April 22, 2006

April 22, 2006 Frederick R. Shute, 78, of Brewerton, formerly of Liverpool, died Saturday. Born in Liverpool, he retired after 40 years employment with Young & Franklin.

He was a 55-year member of Liverpool First United Methodist Church. Mr. Shute was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Korean War Veterans, Liverpool American Legion Post #188 and the Liverpool-Clay VFW #951. He was also a member of Liverpool Lodge 525 F&AM and the Onondaga County Historical Association.

He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis L. Shute, in 1999. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Corl of Carrollton, VA; Anna (Peter) Allphin of Martinsburg, WV; Mary (Duane) Pardee of Cicero; and Diane Marsh of Burlington, WA; son, Frederick J. (Dixie) Shute of Houston, TX; four grandsons; and a granddaughter.

Services were held April 26, 2006, at Maurer Funeral Home. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners.

Clair E. Wynings

Date of Passing: Thursday, March 16, 2006

Clair E. Wynings, 81, of Liverpool, passed away Thursday. He was born in Beaver Township, Pennsylvania. Clair retired in 1986 after 40 years of employment with Allied Chemical. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, and a member of Liverpool-Syracuse #501 F&AM, ROSICRUCION and the Pigeon Club, Syracuse Chapter. He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice Wright Wynings, in 2001. Surviving are his children, Dennis Roy Wynings of California, Ross Alan Wynings of Liverpool, Connie Jacobe of North Wales, PA, Joyce E. Robert W. Heid

Date of Passing: Sunday, February 19, 2006

Robert W. Heid, 77, of Phoenix, and a native of Liverpool, died Sunday February 19, 2006. Born in Syracuse he was manager of Heid’s Restaurants for over 50 years. Mr. Heid was a retired Onondaga County Park Ranger, a life member and past Chief of the Liverpool Fire Department, and a member of both the Liverpool American Legion Post #188, and the Liverpool-Clay VFW. He was also a member of the Liverpool-Syracuse 501 F&AM, the NYS Sheriff’s Association and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Mr. Heid was a Veteran of the Navy. He is predeceased by his wife Betty Heid who died in 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Heid, Phoenix; son, Robert M. Heid, Liverpool; daughters, Carol (Daniel Horn) Heid, Phoenix, Cindy Heid, Clay; stepchildren, Karen (Paul) Shafer, Liverpool, Ellen Lucas, GA., Lois Smith, WA, Kim (Ray) Fadden, Baldwinsville, Leonard (Nancy) Smith, Baldwinsville; brother, Rev. Norman (Susan) Heid, New Hartford; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held, 12:30PM Saturday February 25, 2006 at the Maurer Funeral Home. Spring burial will be in Liverpool Cemetery. Calling hours will be held, 4-8p.m, Friday February 24, 2006 at the funeral home, 300 Second St. Liverpool.

Bernard D. “Bernie” Salisbury

Date of Passing: Wednesday, February 8, 2006

Bernard D. “Bernie” Salisbury age 77, of Liverpool, passed away Wednesday at James Square after a long illness. Born in Syracuse, April 28, 1928, the son of Albert and Marion Leyburn Salisbury. He graduated from Liverpool High School and at-tended Syracuse University. He retired after 40 years with the NYS Department of Transportation, and was a member of Liverpool-Syracuse 501 F&AM, NYS Retired Engineers Organization, CORE Whaling and Rosemond Gifford Zoo. He enjoyed visiting Florida Epcot and fishing at Clearwater Beach as well as Fair Haven, NY. Bernard was a season pass holder at Busch Gardens and a Williamsburg Patriot in Virginia. The CORE Member brought him to Glouster, Mass for the Whale Watching and some more fishing, an avid visitor to Niagara Falls and Toronto Canada for the Tulip Festivals and the Needle. He enjoyed the Regattas there as well as the Tall Ships in Boston, always trying to partake of local festivals that are available; German Octoberfest, Polish, Italian, Irish and Scotch and our Zoo for the Elephants wonderful program, not to be forgotten the six week train trip thru Canada from Montreal to Prince Rupert for a Ferry trip from there up the island coastal ferry route to Skagway and three week stay at various “ports” all arranged by the nine co-workers who let him join them. Surviving are his wife, Jeanne Salisbury; a son, Brian (Joan) Salisbury of Endicott; four daughters, Bonnie (Jerry) Brown of Manlius, Brenda (Mike) Monahan of Phoenix, Beth (Bob) Filizzikowski of Skaneateles, Barbara Salisbury of Syracuse; granddaughters, Dana, Ashley, Nicolle; grandsons, Todd, Don, Troy, Jim, Scott; stepson, Paul (Barbara) Blais of Virginia; two stepdaughters, Debra Blais of Canada, Charlott (Bob) Henson of Brewerton; stepgranddaughters, Amy, Missy, Renee. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2006 at the Maurer Funeral Home. Calling Hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the funeral home, 300 Second St., Liverpool.
